One of my favorite ways to get ideas for decorating my house is to flip through magazines. Also, I enjoy going to home shows and take notes of good ideas. So many of the ideas can be costly, but it's fairly easy to adapt them into a low-cost solution.
Here are some inexpensive ideas that are quick and easy changes:
1. Put up curtains. These can really pull a room together.
2. Use some artwork your kids have created. Buy an inexpensive frame and pop it in. Your kids will be so proud, and so will you!
3. Painting is always an inexpensive way to spruce up a room. Think before you buy. Some stores even have little sample bottles of paint colors that you can buy and try out before buying a gallon.
4. Rearranging furniture can also bring new life to a room. Use your imagination and give it a try. You can always move it back if it doesn't work.
5. If you have a special collection (even from years ago) bring it out of the attic, blow off the dust, and display a few pieces. It could be a conversation piece.
6. Use tablecloths. You can usually buy these very inexpensively, or even make your own. It's amazing what a difference walking into a room with a table cloths, placemats, and a simple centerpiece can make.
7. Have a picture wall. Display family and friends - they'll think it's great & so will you!
I shied away from decorating for years because I thought I didn't have the budget. I finally realized that one doesn't need to hire an interior decorator to have a nicely decorated home.
Have fun & enjoy the process!
